Honesty is always the best policy so if you like him you should just ask him how he feels. That way even if he says no, you've proven that you have guts and you'll stick in his head for it. Generally, I've found that guys get annoyed or bored of being asked by friends, they'd rather you just said it yourself. You don't have to act stupid, just ask him!
